Funding reinstated for Volunteer Management Programs in the Ballarat Region
The volunteering sector is celebrating today after the Department of Social Services announcement; funding for Volunteer Management programs will be reinstated following the Volunteering Australia-lead Tower of Strength campaign.
With this announcement, $19.95 million in funding is now dedicated to Volunteer Management Activity from 1 January 2018 until 30 June 2021.
Volunteering Ballarat CEO Simon Tengende said, “This announcement opens up the opportunity for us to continue our work supporting volunteers and volunteer-involving agencies and promoting sustainable and valuable volunteering programs across our region.”
Volunteering Ballarat provides critical volunteer support services in our region:
- for volunteers looking for positions
- for volunteer-involving agencies who need support training, managing and seeking volunteers.
- coordinating and organising activities that promote and celebrate volunteering, particularly for National Volunteer Week, Volunteer Coordinator’s day and International Volunteer Day
Volunteering Australia CEO Adrienne Picone said, “It is very encouraging that through the combined advocacy efforts of the volunteering sector, members of Parliament, and broader society, that Minister Porter, and the Department of Social Services, has recognised the incredible value that Volunteering Support Services play in the Australian community.”
