Job Title

Hospital Visitor

A female volunteer is required to visit female members of the veteran community at St. John of God Hospital fortnightly.The primary purpose of the visits is to offer social contact and keep the Department of Veterans Affairs patients in touch with the RSL.

Number of volunteers required

The Role is based at:
St John of God Hospital Ballarat

Commitment required

2 to 3 hours once a fortnight

Desirable personal skills/qualities:

Good communication, an interest in ex-service people and war widows, ability to empathise with people who are unwell and able to adhere to strict confidentiality rules.
A police check is mandatory and is paid for by the RSL
As it is female patients being visited the volunteer must be female as per hospital guidelines.

Volunteer Role Key duties

Visit Department of Veterans’ Affairs patients at St John of God for social contact.

You will require or be willing to undergo:

  • Police Check

If required your travel would be reimbursed.
