Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB) Volunteers

Founded in 2005 BIFB is one of Australia’s pre-eminent photographic festivals and is offering fantastic volunteering opportunity to get involved in the Ballarat Arts Community and beyond! Over 31 days (Aug/Sept) BIFB will showcase significant International and Australian photographers, as well as offering a vibrant fringe program, functions and events including portfolio reviews. We anticipated an audience of 50,000+ this year and we need your help to make it happen. Volunteer opportunities range from gallery attendants, to event and technical assistants to function and hospitality team members.

Running over seven days (and nights) from 19 August to 17 September 2017 there is bound to be a shift and role you can assist with. Shifts lengths vary dependant on the role and you can pick the times and days that best suit you. A gallery attendant for example would typically be rostered for 3 1/2 hours on a morning or afternoon..

Desirable personal skills/qualities:

We need good communicators who are willing to work as a part of a team, be punctual and reliable, have an interest in the arts and are keen to showcase Ballarat. A basic level of fitness is necessary as most roles required the ability to stand for extended periods.

Volunteer Role Key duties

Enhance visitor experience, providing information and guidance regarding exhibitions, events and Ballarat, as well as ensure the security of artwork and venues. Assist with the collection of attendance data and visitor feedback.

You will need to have or be willing to undertake:

  • Police Check
  • Working with children check
  • Character references
  • RSA would also be useful
