Vision Australia Ballarat Day Program Support Volunteer
Number of volunteers required
The Role is based at:
1300 Howitt Street, Wendouree
Commitment required
1 day a week for approx. 5 hours
Desirable personal skills/qualities:
* An interest and some experience in woodwork
* Interpersonal skills
* Be able to work in a team environment
* Be able to work with people who are blind or have low vision
Volunteer Role Key duties
* Participate in the recreational activity
* Perform sighted guide techniques to effectively support clients to safely navigate their environment
* Communicate effectively with clients to understand and respond to their needs
* Coordinate specific program or tasks to ensure program requirements are met and completed
You will need to have or be willing to undertake:
• Police Check
• Working with children check
• Character references

Training and induction will be provided to the volunteer.
