Red Lion United Way Golf Classic 2016 – wrap up
What do you get when you combine a roving fairy, a lovely sunny Ballarat day, and a luscious green golf course? A day of fun, friendship, competition and frivolity of course!
The annual Red Lion United Way Golf Classic held at the Ballarat Golf Club recently saw representatives from 20 businesses register to represent local community organisations and programs to assist in raising essential funds for the Ballarat community by competing in this Annual Ambrose event.
Teams of four competed for honours in both individual and team awards, along with the possibility of winning cash prizes for nearest the pin and the ever elusive ‘Hole in One’.
Professional golfer, Darren Bowman – complete with fully stocked golf cart, was auctioned at the start of the day as an additional team member, with the team at Eclipse Ford securing his services and expertise for the day. Unfortunately not even Darren’s prowess with the clubs was enough to assist the team in securing top spot, with the honours going to the team from Integra with a net score of 53.87! Runners up were the Macneil Group foursome and CE Bartlett’s team taking up the final podium position.
The City of Ballarat very well represented with a total of three teams, with one of their teams managing to make the most of their day to take home the prestigious NAGA award!
Major sponsor, David Canny from the Red Lion, was extremely pleased with the success and comradery of the day as most patrons made the most of the opportunity to enjoy some of Ballarat’s rare sunshine to wind up a busy week!
Many thanks to all the supporters, donors, participants and volunteers who assisted to ensure the day was a resounding success!
