A Challenge to the Businesses of Ballarat

Tanya Daniels from Tanya Daniels the Good Guys in Ballarat has issued a challenge to the businesses of Ballarat.

” Lets get behind the Ballarat Imagination Library and make Ballarat a Reading City.”

At the Good Guys, customers can nominate a local charity to receive a portion of their sale .. one of the charities is the Ballarat Imagination Library.

Tanya challenges other businesses to find innovative ways in which they can get behind this initiative and show the Ballarat community the value they place on improving literacy rates in our city.

Illiteracy is a significant problem in our city that contributes to many of the social issues we face.   By placing books in children’s hands from birth and providing resources and education for their parents/carers, we are setting these children up to succeed through their education and to have a love of reading throughout their lives.

United Way Ballarat is working to advance the common good of our community by focusing on Education, Income and Health.  These are the building blocks for a good life—a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.  United Way Ballarat asks all the citizens of Ballarat and surrounding areas to do three things: GIVE – money and goods; ADVOCATE – on behalf of those who cannot; and VOLUNTEER – to invest time in our community More about United Way Ballarat
