Volunteer Recognition Awards 2012

And the winners are:

The Volunteer Recognition Awards for 2012 saw 10 individual or groups of volunteers celebrated for their outstanding efforts to support our community.  Finalists in each category were presented with a Certificate and winners received an inscribed and framed Peter Kervarec photo of Ballarat.

Saturday night’s gala evening at the Mercure Hotel saw the following people recognised for their exemplary contributions :

The WIN Network Community Health and Care Award was presented to the Ballarat Community Health Volunteers

The Courier Community Service Award was presented to Child and Family Services Foster Carers

The Western District Employment Access Community Organisation Award was presented to The Sovereign Hill Museums Association

The Peter Kervarec, Ballarat Professional Photography Arts Award was presented to the Royal South Street Society Volunteer ‘2011 Competition Disaster Team’

The Southern Cross Business Machines Community Event Award was presented to the 2011 Ballarat Churches Eureka Carols

The Sports Central Sports Individual Award was presented to Anthony Vanjek

The Power FM Emergency Award was presented to Craig Coulter

The Sports Central Sports Group Award was presented to the Wendouree Cricket Club

The City of Ballarat Youth Award was presented to Olivia Johnstone

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Mary Reus.

Speaking about the Awards Geoff Sharp from United Way Ballarat praised the efforts of all volunteers and volunteer organisations:  “Tonight is not just about those who are our finalists and winners, it’s about recognising the huge, positive impact everyone who volunteers their time to help someone else has on the very fabric of our society.  Every volunteer is worth every bit of love and appreciation we can show them, and so tonight on behalf of every person in Ballarat and surrounding we say a heartfelt THANK YOU to you all.”
